What happened in the 1960's:

Russia sends the first man to space.

John F. Kennedy becomes the 35th President of the United States.
JFK is assassinated 1963.

In 1965 the Beatles became very popular, they were new compared to the previous bands. On one corner there would be a hippie doing drugs and then a gang scrap on another corner. The first man was put into space by Russia in 1963. Then in 1969 NASA put the first man on the moon which would  cause some disbelief that is still happening today. In 1962 the Cuban missile crisis was started after the USA discovered that the Soviet Union had nuclear arms in Cuba.

ITV produced The Avengers.
The primary audience was women, the secondary is men.
It first aired on 7 January 1961.

There were 6 seasons.
The last episode aired on 21 May 1969.
The budget was £1,000,000 for season 4.

The cold war was a race between USA and Russia in who could build the strongest nuclear weapons armament. This caused the increase in flight technology and radar, as this would counter the peoples fear of the unknown. For example the SR-71 Blackbird was created in the USA mainly to infiltrate the USSR.
